Experience the native culture of the Tlingit people on this unique visit to the Jilkaat Kwaan Cultural Heritage & Bald Eagle Preserve Visitor Center in Klukwan, Alaska. Klukwan is the only remaining village of the Chilkat Tlingits and it is located at the confluence of the Chilkat, Klehini and Tsirku rivers. Klukwan has seen a multitude of generations and for thousands of years our people have lived close to the land and that relationship continue to this day. This state-of-the art museum Center is situated in a stunning natural landscape on the northern banks of the Chilkat River and it provides access to ancient art treasures that have previously not been available to the public. The world-famous Whale House Collection and Chilkat Weavings are uniquely displayed in their place of origin allowing entrance to our people’s distinctive ethnic landscape.
