SraiWi means “my children” in the Keresan language, the original language of the people of Tamaya. SraiWi activities are carefully curated by Cultural staff to offer young guests multiple creative, unique and authentic learning experiences. Experience one of Santa Ana's oldest traditions, baking bread in a huruna, or oven. Make oven bread side-by-side with a pueblo member and learn techniques while learning of the significance of Tamaya traditions.
- Adobe Brick Making - Work hands on creating a traditional mini adobe brick (mud bricks) just like the people of Santa Ana Pueblo have done for hundreds of years. Young guests can remember the experience by taking home the brick they created.
- Artisan Demonstration - Native American artisans demonstrate how they make their authentic arts & crafts. Artisans will be available to talk with guests about the materials and the steps it takes to create finished pieces. Finished pieces will be available for sale only during the time of the demonstrations.
- Tamaya Traditions Bread Baking (Seasonal) - Work with the baker and learn to make Pueblo oven bread in a traditional outdoor Huruna (oven).
- Stories Under the Stars - Listen to a Native American storyteller as they tell various creation stories that continue to be handed down from previous generations.
- Pony Rides – Saturday & Sunday (Seasonal) - Hop on Bullet the pony for a lead-around ride! The Stables at Tamaya offer complimentary pony rides to children three through eight years of age in the the pony corral next to Camp Tamaya.
